It’s been incredible to see MediWear featured in The Archer this week. The article captured exactly why this journey began. After my grandma, Majoon, fainted in the street, I realised how easily she could have been left unidentified in an emergency. Around the same time, an elderly friend of ours was taken into hospital without any ID and could not be identified for over a day. That experience made me determined to create something that could speak for people when they cannot speak for themselves.
When I first designed MediWear, it was for people like my grandma. She refused to wear a traditional medical ID because she found them unattractive and didn’t want to feel labelled as “ill”. That’s what inspired our current range of discreet pendants that carry essential details without medical symbols. They are for people who value safety but want something beautiful and personal enough to wear every day.
Following the feature, we are now developing new designs that include medical symbols for those who prefer something instantly recognisable by paramedics. This new range will complement the existing discreet collection, giving people a choice based on what makes them feel most confident and comfortable.
Here's a sneak peak at the new designs:

If you have any suggestions for new designs, please get in touch at km@mediwear.co.uk. I want this to be a community project that helps people feel beautiful and confident in their medical ID.
I also want to be open about delivery times. Because every pendant is currently made to order, production and engraving have occasionally taken longer than expected. To improve this, we are transitioning to holding stock of select designs so we can offer faster delivery while keeping everything British made and crafted from recycled sterling silver.
Please bear with us as this transition takes time and resources. It’s an important step towards making MediWear more reliable and accessible for everyone.
Seeing people begin to wear MediWear pendants proudly every day means everything to me. What started as a way to protect my grandma has grown into something that can help many families feel reassured that their loved ones will never be left unidentified in an emergency.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey so far. Seeing people wear MediWear proudly means more than I can say.
