About Us

Why MediWear exists

After hearing that a friend’s husband had been rushed to hospital and remained unidentified for 36 hours, my grandmother, Majoon, grew worried the same thing could happen to her. A few weeks later, she fainted and fell on the way home from the shops. That worry suddenly felt real.

She wanted her medical details to be easily accessible, but in a way that felt personal and dignified - not like a public announcement of her conditions. Most medical IDs felt too clinical, with harsh symbols and impersonal designs. I tried to get her one, but she swore she’d never actually wear it.

"I'm uncomfortable wearing something that makes people think I'm ill" - Majoon

She didn’t want to feel labelled. She wanted something she’d be proud to wear.

So I spoke to paramedics and GPs to understand what truly matters in an emergency. Then I designed a pendant that carried those details with clarity and care.

That’s how MediWear was born: thoughtfully crafted, distinctive medical jewellery that people are more likely to actually wear - especially when it matters most.

What we do

We make medical IDs people actually want to wear. Handcrafted in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter from 100% recycled sterling silver. We replace clinical symbols with our own that strives to signal ‘medical ID’ without the stigma, making it easier to feel confident wearing it every day. If you prefer the added recognition of a medical symbol, The ID Band Company has great options, however, a medical symbol cannot be recognised if it isn't worn. Being comfortable enough to wear your medical ID matters more.

Why it works:

  • Stylish

Our pendant’s designs are clear and distinctive, ensuring it’s easy to see when it counts, without sacrificing style.

  • Practical

Engraved with then key details that paramedics have recommended, helping them to help you in an emergency.

  • Subscription free

No subscriptions or fees – just a one-time purchase that works with the NHS' existing system.

Who we are

Founder | Kya Mobasheri

When I first started MediWear, designing the first pendant took everything I had. For a while, my grandma was the only one wearing one. I knew it wouldn’t do something dramatic like give her CPR - but even if it gave her a 2% better chance in an emergency, it was worth it. That peace of mind meant everything to me, and now we share that feeling with other families.

Inspiration | Majoon

My grandma, Majoon, has always been the heart of our family. She’s independent, thoughtful and strong. When I couldn’t find a medical ID she’d actually wear, I offered to create one for her instead. It had to feel like jewellery, not a warning label - something she’d be happy to put on every day. She’s the reason MediWear exists, and everything we do carries her influence.
